I joined The University of Auckland in September, 2002, and have been with the Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering ever since. Prior to joining Auckland, I was full time Professor at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India.  I was a  Commonwealth Scholar in the United Kingdom from 1994 to 1996 and received Ph.D. degree from the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, The University of Sheffield, U.K.  in 1996.

My research interests include Nonlinear System Identification and Control,    Fault Tolerant Control, Big Data, Machine Intelligence, Biomedical Signal Processing, and Control Applications to Power System and Wireless Power Transfer Systems.

I have authored/co-authored over 220 papers in different international journals and conferences. I am  Associate Editor of IEEE Sensors Journal, International Journal of Innovative Computing Information and Control and Member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Automation and Control and International Journal of Sensors, Wireless Communications and Control. I teach courses related to Control Systems, Power Systems, and Computer Networks at graduate and undergraduate .

I am from Odisha, a state in Eastern part of India with rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
